Upside Down Drawing

When you first look at this picture it looks like its just a bunch of scribbles on a picture. However there is way more to it than just that. For this project we had to make red film glasses in order for our image to work. We started out by drawing an image of a jungle animal in light blue colored pencil. Then over the top we put warm colors in patterns all over the page, to disguise the image. Then when you were all done you could put your glasses on and look at your image and see the animal you drew. It will come through all the warm colors that you put over top of it.

This project was so awesome! I have never done anything like this before. It was interesting to see how it actually worked. An extension activity of this could be the students would then have to write a paper on the animal they chose to draw. Then put the paper next to their displayed art work so when it is hanging up students can read about the animal that they are looking for.
