For this lesson we got to draw profiles. We first practiced drawing a partners profile without looking at the paper and seeing what we were doing. We did this to imagine what we were doing rather than looking and thinking about it too much. We then looked at Picasso's paintings and talked about abstract characteristics. So in my painting I had a picture with half girl half man. I used the bright colors, jagged lines, and jagged lines.
An extension activity of this art project could be doing a short description essay of their drawing for a Language Arts assignment. The students will need to describe their oil pastel drawing very throughly. I want the students to describe it to where someone who was reading the essay could imagine the picture in their mind.
